Community development
Working the long, unglamorous way alongside our neighbourhoods — food, housing, isolation, land. Assets not deficits; with people, never for them.
Cornwall & Devon · South West UK
ReWild is a growing network of small, organic churches across the South West — rooted in place, light on structure, serious about Jesus. No building. No performance. Just people learning to love their neighbourhood well.
What we are
Church small enough to fit round a table, wild enough to change a street.
Most of us grew up with church as an event you attend. We're after something older and simpler — a handful of people in a real place, sharing food, sharing money, praying honestly, and showing up for their neighbours over years rather than Sundays.
ReWild communities are deliberately small. When one grows past about twenty, it seeds another. There's no stage, no rota, no professional class of Christian. Leadership is shared, decisions are made together, and everyone is expected to bring something.
We stand in the Anabaptist tradition — peace-making, community of goods, following Jesus in practice rather than only in belief — and we hold it with open hands. If you're curious, sceptical, deconstructing, or just tired of what church became, there's room at the table.
Our rhythms
Not a programme — a way of life we return to, week after week, in whatever place we've been put.
Working the long, unglamorous way alongside our neighbourhoods — food, housing, isolation, land. Assets not deficits; with people, never for them.
Jesus subverted religious power and ate with the outcast. We follow him into the places where things are unjust, and we do it non-violently.
Contemplative and charismatic together. Silence, scripture, listening, and an expectation that the Spirit still speaks and still heals.
Everything else grows from this. Not a doctrine to sign but a person to follow — into forgiveness, enemy-love, and a bigger table than we're comfortable with.
Where & when
Homes, pubs, allotments, community halls. Turn up as you are — you'll probably be fed.
Nothing near you? That's often how these start. If you're in the South West and something in you is stirring about your own street, get in touch — we'll walk it with you and help you begin.
The story
ReWild grew out of years of ordinary work in Cornwall — community projects, retreat spaces, kitchen tables, and a stubborn conviction that the church Jesus started looked a lot less like an institution and a lot more like a movement of friends.
We're connected to the wider Anabaptist and Mennonite family, and we're building something that can be handed on: simple enough for anyone to start, rooted enough to last, accountable enough to be safe.
If that resonates — whether you want to visit, to help, or to plant something where you live — we'd love to hear from you.
Say hello
Tell us a little about you and where you are. A real person reads every message and replies — usually within a couple of days.
Thank you — that's landed with us. Someone will be in touch soon. In the meantime, you're welcome at any gathering.
